To help get you started find out below which paper CAN and CANNOT be recycled

With so many paper office products these days, it is a difficult and painstaking job finding out which ones are in fact in recyclable. The good news news is however that they are only a few paper based products that cant be recycled and for every tonne of paper that you do recycle you are saving 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space. Getting an office recycling initiative going is easy, however if you need a helping hand please feel free to contact us. Now on to to the good stuff.

Deciding what is recyclable?

Most large files (lever arch) come with a metal rim protector and this can cause problems in the recycling process. If possible please remove any metal parts. The general rule of thumb is if any other material other than paper is attached  to the paper product (e.g. plastic window in envelopes), this must be removed for it to become recyclable.

Any paper products contaminated with oil, grease, bacteria or cleaning products are not recyclable as pulp cannot be turned back into paper during the recycling process if large quantities of the contaminants exist.

Waxy type paper (usually the remains of paper labels)  foil paper  or laminated paper are not capable of being recycled.

However, some quantities that make their way into a recycling bin will not ruin the entire recycling process, it is only when significant quantities of un-recyclables are mixed with paper or cardboard products, will the process be unsuitable.
